This newly built home is located adjacent to the beautiful Yokine Reserve with direct access to the parkland pathways. The home features state of the art design and technology capability, with expansive communal living areas and high-level finishes. Bedrooms are studio apartment size featuring room to move, ceiling hoist functionality, large disability-accessible bathrooms and open spaces for family and friends to visit. The home features both indoor and outdoor living areas, in addition to a chef’s delight kitchen, accessible laundry facilities and wheelchair access car/van parking.

The home is uniquely reserved for housemates with high support needs, who are looking for a fixed term location while looking at sourcing and seeking options for moving to a more permanent location. The home is purposely designed for those currently requiring a high level of support (both therapy and nursing support an option), who are looking to build their daily living skills and confidence in order to move into a forever home. How long housemates remain in the home is based on their individual situation and progress. Examples include housemates catastrophically injured transitioning out of hospital or housemates with high support needs looking to build capacity to independent living, with residency possible from months to years. Support staff have received training in specific competencies such as PEG feeds, tracheostomy care, challenging behaviours, bowel management and diabetes management, including insulin injection administration. Ability Centre aims to accommodate residents with a variety of complex needs.

Accommodation description

This is a young person's home full of personality and energy. This is a very active home with all housemates that are ambulant and working. They have access to a communal living area where they watch TV/DVDs/Netflix and have access to WIFI. Everyone participates and contributes to housekeeping and cooking duties with assistance from workers. Fridays are generally for social outings. A herb/veggie garden has just been developed with a beautiful outside entertaining area with couches. No BBQ facilities at this stage. The outside area can be used as a private space for visiting families and friends.

3 females (19, 21, 21) and 1 male (27). Some housemates work up to 4 days per week, they all enjoy each other’s company and are encouraged to interact in the shared living areas. They often go for walks or have social outings together.

Only ambulant customers - given the steep hill and driveway to the front door of the house.
