By working closely with individuals, families and carers, our team provides support and technical expertise that lead to greater independence through the creative use of equipment and technology.

If getting around, accessing your environment or communicating is challenging, our professionals will work with you and your support networks to find the best solution to encourage greater independence and participation in the community, either by modifying and adapting your existing equipment, or custom building a new solution.

Computers and Everyday Living

A customised approach to computer access and even the use of everyday appliances can significantly impact your quality of life. Using assistive technology, we can help create greater independence in your home, at work or in the community.

Communicating

Our team of speech pathologists and specialist technicians is committed to enhancing an individual’s ability to communicate in all environments.

Mobility

Our team are here to help you achieve enhanced freedom and self-directed movement through a range of mobility options recommended by our therapists and developed by our specialist technicians.

If getting around is challenging, our professionals will work with you and your support people to find the perfect solution to encourage greater independence and participation in the community, either by modifying and adapting your existing equipment, or custom building a new solution.

Sitting

We understand that individuals with disability may have difficulty maintaining the optimal sitting position; it is our priority, and we specialise in making sure everyone has the opportunity to sit comfortably and move well.

Our team of expert physical and occupational therapists will prescribe the seating system that provides excellent support and comfort while sitting, and promote correct posture to improve daily activities such as eating and writing.

Sleeping

The quality and quantity of sleep a person receives has a direct impact on all other aspects of their daily life, affecting health, wellbeing, relationships, learning skills and general behaviour, as well as the rest of the family! At Ability Centre, we can work with you and your family to manage sleep difficulties through expert clinical support and modified postural aides.

Staffed by occupational therapists and physiotherapists, our sleep service provides a holistic, integrated approach, expertise and resources in managing quality of sleep, pain and discomfort that may be contributing to sleeping difficulties.

Your Home

We understand that building a new home or modifying an existing home can be a daunting task, especially when there is a need to create accessibility that meets your individual needs.

Therapists collaborate in problem-solving and tailoring assistive technology solutions for service users across a range of different environments. We source equipment and parts from a range of manufacturers, so you will always have access to the latest equipment and technology available on the market.
