Our therapists are always coming up with fun and exciting ideas to help kids improve their physical and social skills and northern hub’s ‘Boxfit Bandits’ is no exception.
Run for the first time during the April school holidays the group activity was aimed at boosting participant’s confidence, as well as increasing their community involvement and helping with balance, fitness and coordination.
Kids and therapists got together over four days at Anytime Fitness, next to our northern hub at Currambine, to take part in non-contact activities including glove and bag boxing, circuit work, agility training and exercises to build better reflexes.
Physiotherapist Kirsty Frestel organised the group and said feedback from parents had been really positive with the fun, energetic atmosphere and group interactions proving a big hit!
“We had a lot of parents telling us they would love to continue with the program on a regular basis and even some who would like their children to progress their boxing technique.” said Kirsty.
One mum told us that her son “loved challenging himself in an environment where he felt well supported’ while another said the sessions “really suited everyone’s ability and the atmosphere was really encouraging.”
Many of the parents also praised the social environment of the group and said it was great to see their children interacting with others.
