Looking for something fun to do during the April school holidays? Well look no further! Ability Centre’s therapy team have come up with some awesome ideas to keep the kids (and grown-ups) entertained and exercising over the break.
From bike riding to non-contact boxing, yoga to brushing up on your swim skills, there’s plenty on offer at all points across the city so why not check out our list of activities below and book in now to secure your spot!
Are you looking for a new type of group activity that will boost your child’s confidence, increase their community involvement and help with balance, fitness and coordination?
Then why not be a part of Ability Centre’s inaugural Boxfit Bandits group.
Boxfit Bandits will run from Monday 10 April to Thursday 13 April at Anytime Fitness, Unit 2, 1 Hobson’s Gate Currumbine, next to Ability Centre’s northern hub.
The sessions are from 11am to midday daily and you can book a spot by calling Helen on 9407 3601 or firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 31st March.
Ability Centre is offering two bike clubs these holidays, one in Armadale and one in Mirrabooka. Both are led by Ability Centre physios and are designed to help participants learn and develop the skills for safe and fun bike riding.
Lessons include basics in steering, braking, dismounting, endurance, negotiating obstacles, road safety tips and help with progressing from training wheels.
- The Trail Blazers bike group will be holding sessions over four consecutive days in the Armadale area in the second week of the holidays. The sessions will operate from 9.30am to 1pm at Reg Williams Reserve, Armadale on Tuesday 18 April through Friday 21 April. - Ability Centre is also offering an all-ages bike club at the Herb Graham recreation centre in Mirrabooka. This program will be held in the first week of the school holidays over three days including Monday 10 April, Tuesday 11 April and Thursday 13 April. Sessions are 45 minutes long and you can choose between a 9am, 10am or 11am timeslot, so get in quick to secure a spot by chatting to your key contact or physiotherapist. Yoga Bears is an interactive exercise group aimed at improving core strength, balance, body awareness and whole body control in a relaxing and fun environment.
Places are limited for this program so get in quick. Sessions run during the second week of the school holidays from 9.30am to 10.30am (Monday 18 April to Friday 22 April) at Anytime Fitness, Unit 2, 1 Hobsons Gate, Currambine, next to Ability Centre’s northern hub.

In the Swim
Improve your swimming, strength and core fitness and work on building muscle tone and pain management all at the same time by joining us in the hydrotherapy pool at Ability Centre’s Coolbinia hub.
We’re offering a range of times across the April school holidays in week one and two (Easter excluded), so if you’re keen please drop us an email or give us a call and we can book you in.
The program is for all ages and offers a range of time slots for you to consider.
Every session is individualised and supervised by physiotherapists and community inclusion workers with other participants in the water at the same time. Participants may be working on specific swimming skills or completing hydrotherapy to learn or maintain a skill.
