Ability Centre celebrates four years with Gladys Newton School volunteers

Ability Centre is proud to celebrate a successful four year volunteering partnership with the Gladys Newton School (GNS) Bush Ranger Cadets.

Since 2011, the Cadets have attended weekly excursions to Ability Centre and participated in a variety of conservation projects, transforming Lilacdale and Cassia residences into a welcome and vibrant setting the residents can enjoy along with their family and friends.

Through the GNS Bush Cadet program, students have tended to native gardens, re potted and replanted flowerbeds and completed a variety of other gardening activities.

Ability Centre Manager of Community Service Sue Theunissen says the Cadets play a vital role in the upkeep of facilities.

“We are grateful to the Cadets and coordinators for the time and commitment they are investing into our residents’ home,” said Ms Theunissen.

“Our gardens have never had so much love and attention.”

“I’m pleased that Ability Centre is part of a program that is continually providing the Cadets with opportunities to develop their skills, build confidence and have fun.”
