Ability Centre is a registered disability service provider and NDIS provider. We support individuals and families living with autism, physical disabilities and intellectual disabilities.
Wherever you live in Western Australia, we can help you make the most of your NDIS Plan.
About the NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing support for Australians with disability, their families and carers. This video gives you an overview of what the NDIS is and how it works.
Who can I talk to about the NDIS?
You can talk to us! Please call us on 1300 106 106 and we can answer your questions whether you are an existing Ability Centre customer or not.
When will the NDIS rollout in my area?
From 1 July 2017 the NDIS was made available to new participants based on where they live. Visit the geographic rollout in Western Australia page to find out where and when the NDIS will be available.
Am I eligible for the NDIS?
A person with a disability that is likely to be permanent and the disability makes it difficult to take part in everyday activities can access the NDIS. A person needs to meet disability criteria or a child will need to meet the early intervention requirements, as well as age and residency requirements. For full details see Access Requirements.
If you are unsure about your eligibility to receive NDIS planning and funded services and want to find out about the services that Ability Centre provides, please contact our Customer Engagement team on 1300 106 106.
The NDIS has also developed three Participant booklets to help people living with disability, their families and carers understand the NDIS journey. The booklets have three main topics:
- Booklet 1 – Understanding the NDIS
- Booklet 2 – Planning
- Booklet 3 – Using your NDIS Plan
You can access the Participant booklets here.
Ability Centre NDIS Planning Workbook
At Ability Centre we want you to get the best possible support accessing the NDIS.
We have created an Ability Centre NDIS Planning Workbook to help you think about what your life is like now, what’s important, the support you currently receive and the goals you have for your future.
These are all of the things that the NDIS will want to discuss with you at your first meeting. The NDIS planner will also talk to you about the informal, community and mainstream supports available to you and determine your eligibility for reasonable and necessary NDIS funded supports.
Once you have your plan, this workbook will also help us to better understand how we can work with you to help achieve your goals.
